Kydex interior forming

Kydex interior forming videos

This guy has 27 videos on how he formed Kydex on his PA18 project.

Door latches

There are two door types, one is what I call the FRAMED door on early airframes and then the STAMPED door on later builds.

Framed (blue) and Stamped (white)

The door LATCH mechanism is different in each door type framed/stamped but then there is another difference in outside door handles, Protruding and Flush.

Protruding (red) and Flush (white)

Here is my question for other Stinson experts, knowing that Stinson was building aircraft in Detroit Michigan, did Stinson build their own door latch or did they use door latches that were already being built by another company?

Supposedly if you can find a Piper pacer at the salvage yard, they had the same mechanism for the doors

It would be nice if we knew of a cross reference for such a thing! Please add a comment below if you know of anything like that or contact me directly.

Front seat retention

The chance of the front seat sliding back and tipping backwards is possible.Steve Ruff made some mods to prevent this, some turn the slide around 180 degrees.

The bolt is the normal way this is prevented

Stinson Parts for Sale

I am a Stinson 108-1 project owner and the Webmaster for the International Stinson Club. Recently an elderly gentleman liquidated his 60 years of collecting aircraft parts. There were many Stinson 108 parts that were heading to the scrapyard, but I could not let that happen. I purchased them all and crammed them into my small T-hangar with my project aircraft. (just east of Dallas Texas) My goal is to get all of the parts back out into the community and recoup my effort and time, so Im cataloging all the parts. Im open to a sale of the whole collection too, reach out to discuss.

Fuel Neck modification

This modification to the fuel next is supposed to seal any fuel from exiting via the mounting screws. Billy Carter used to sell kits, but I think we will have to make our own now.

Seat Extender

There is a seat extender that you used to buy from Gary, but I think he has had some medical issues. Here are some of the details about them.
