Engine parts

We took the RV to AirWorx in Brewton AL to get the two Franklin engines.
Who knew you could pack two disassembled Franklin engines into the cargo holds of a Class C RV!

Univair Blueprints

A member shared this with me, I will buy the full blueprint and see what the true measurement should be.

Windshield DRY fitting

Im having a tough time getting the bottom windshield support to align properly.

Im using the original door frame so all the holes should be correct and the windshield support is also original.

I got the LEFT side to properly align but the right side is not.

Going to get the Blueprint from Univair to check measurements.

Boot cowl to firewall

I worked on drilling the holes that attach the firewall to the boot cowl. I used the lower cowling to estimate where the larger holes go for the screws.

Merry Christmas to me!

I purchased some "pre-loved" avionics for the Project.

There are two AV-30C's (AI & DG) and an Electronics international CRG-30 engine monitor.

Panel work continues

Well it's a blank canvas to start a new panel and there is plenty of room for the lightweight new E.I. Instruments.

BootCowl work

I had some time this weekend to work on the boot cowl. I have been mocking it up for some time, but I had not yet committed to drilling holes.

Well Got the doors dry fitted and finally drilled holes for where the bootcowl secures to the door frame.

Next I need to work on the Bootcowl to Firewall. Im assuming there is a fire proof material or sealant that goes between that. Greg Lucas suggested ProSeal.

Panel and cowling work.

This weekend I had a few minutes to play with the panel. I measured the holes for the glove boxes that I will eventually build.

I also messed with the trim pieces for the windshield. This is part of dry fitting everything for the boot cowl and windshields. I need to ensure that everything is right before I drill the first hole, because once that hole is drilled, Im commiting to these boot cowlings that I have made.

Panel work Feb

I got some time at the hangar today, so I worked at adding the bottom and top pieces to the panel. I started with the piano hinge and attached the lower panel with #8 nut plates and then drilled the upper panel.

This gave me the chance to then shape the panel with a sander to get the proper fit. I have a lot of nut plates to add but that will be the next visit, then I can start with cutting holes for instruments.

How strong is a Stinson 108?

This happened at an airport in north text year ago, but the 108 is holding up the Cherokee!
